Slide Five:

This slide shows the general design of the trial. Patients undergoing hip replacement were randomly assigned to receive either dalteparin begun either pre-op or post-op or warfarin begun post-op. The venogram for the primary end-point was performed on day 6 (+ or - 2). A subgroup then continued to receive their dalteparin out to day 35 or placebo injections (this group received warfarin in hospital), when a second venogram was performed.
