Current Drug Studies
C.A.R.E. Clinical
Research is one of many sites performing investigational drug studies
in the United States. Our main area of expertise is pulmonary medicine.
We also specialize in antithrombotic therapy.
This page will list our current and future studies. You can click on
the links to view more detailed information about a particular investigational
study.
Current
studies
- Hospital and
community acquired pneumonia-Pneumonia
is a bacterial infection of the lungs. Symptoms include: high fever,
increased sputum production, and extreme fatigue. Some people develop
walking pneumonia and will not notice any of these symptoms but still
have the bacterial infection. If you live in the St. Louis area and
are feeling these symptoms, give our offices a call for more information.
- Emphysema-Emphysema,
sometimes referred to as COPD, is a very debilitating disease that
destroys lung tissue. Heavy smokers sometimes develop symptoms after
long sustained cigarette use. It usually occurs in patients forty
years of age or older. Patients may have difficulty catching their
breath doing simple tasks, such as walking up the stairs, or they
may have a chronic cough. Contact
our offices for more information.
- Asthma
-Asthma is a chronic inflammatory disorder of the airways that
can be triggered from exercise, allergies, or certain drugs. New treatments
are being developed and investigational studies at C.A.R.E. Clinical
Research are ongoing. If you are interested about learning more about
these research studies contact
our offices for more information.
- Acute worsening
of chronic bronchitis-Chronic
Bronchitis is inflammation of the lung tissue. Symptoms include coughing,
increased sputum or phlegm production, and difficulty breathing. Occasionally
bronchitis can get rapidly worse. This can signal a bacterial infection.
We are testing an investigational antibiotic designed to relieve these
symptoms. If you live in the St. Louis vicinity contact
our offices to receive more information about the study.
- Deep Venous
Thrombosis (DVT)- DVT is a thrombus (blood clot) that occurs in
the large veins of the body. These embolisms sometimes break off and
cause strokes, heart attacks or pulmonary embolisms (PE's). CareInternet.net
has education modules covering this subject for caregivers.
- Hypertension-High
blood pressure is a deadly cause of heart failure, heart attacks,
and stroke. Drugs are constantly being developed and tested to effectively
lower blood pressure. If you live in the St. Louis vicinity contact
our offices to receive more information about the study.
- Atrial Fibrillation - Is a condition where the heart does not beat regularly, called sinus rhythm; most patients with AF will take Coumadin to prevent blood clots. Currently CARE Clinical Research is conducting a study of Coumadin and another medication to help prevent stroke in this patient group. If you live in the St. Louis vicinity contact
our offices to receive more information about the study.
Future
Studies
- Heart failure-
Congestive heart failure is debilitating and has become increasingly
responsible for cardiovascular deaths. Now classes of drugs are being
tested to treat heart failure.
- Common cold-
The common cold, sometimes called a viral respiratory infection, usually
results in a runny nose, headaches, and upset stomach.
